Gutters & Downspouts in Fort Wayne
Gutters do one job: move roof water away from your fascia, siding and foundation. When they sag, overflow or leak at the seams, water rots the fascia, stains siding and ends up in the basement. We replace failing gutters with seamless aluminum sized for your roof, with downspouts placed where the water actually goes.
- Seamless aluminum, formed on site
- 5" and 6" sizes for larger roofs
- Fascia rot repaired first
- Downspouts routed away from the foundation

Quick answer
New seamless aluminum gutters on a typical Fort Wayne home usually cost $1,500 to $4,500, depending on footage, 5 or 6 inch size, downspouts, guards and any fascia repair. Most homes are done in one day. Replacing gutters along with a new roof lets us install drip edge and flashing correctly behind them.
How much do new gutters cost in Fort Wayne?
Most single-family homes need somewhere between 120 and 200 linear feet of gutter. With seamless aluminum, downspouts and hangers, that typically lands between $1,500 and $4,500. The main price factors:
- Footage and stories. Two-story runs need more ladder work and longer downspouts.
- Size. 6-inch gutters cost a bit more than 5-inch but carry far more water.
- Guards. Adding gutter guards raises the price but cuts cleaning.
- Fascia. Rotted fascia boards behind old gutters have to be replaced before new gutters go up, and we price that per board.
5-inch or 6-inch gutters?
Five-inch K-style gutters are standard on many homes and work fine on smaller, simpler roofs. Six-inch gutters move roughly 40% more water and are worth it when:
- The roof is large, steep, or has long runs feeding one corner
- Valleys dump concentrated water into one spot
- Gutters overflow during heavy summer storms even when clean
- Leaves from mature trees in older neighborhoods clog smaller gutters quickly
We pair 6-inch gutters with larger 3x4 downspouts so the water can actually leave. More downspouts in the right places often matter as much as gutter size.
Gutters, ice dams and Fort Wayne winters
Ice dams form when warm air leaking into the attic melts snow on the roof, and the water refreezes at the cold eaves. Gutters packed with ice add weight that pulls hangers loose and bends the gutter away from the house.
New gutters alone don't stop ice dams; the fix is usually in the attic. Better attic ventilation and insulation keeps the roof deck cold so snow doesn't melt from below. On a new roof we also install ice and water shield at the eaves, so any backup that does happen can't get into the house. Hidden hangers screwed into the fascia hold up far better under ice than old spike-and-ferrule hangers.
Should you replace gutters with a new roof?
Often, yes. When we replace a roof, new drip edge goes on at the eaves, and it should sit correctly over the gutter. Old gutters frequently get bent during tear-off, and if they're near the end of their life, replacing them in the same project avoids a second ladder setup and a second disruption. If your gutters are in good shape, we protect and reuse them. See asphalt shingle roofing for what a full re-roof includes.
Do gutter guards work?
They help, with realistic expectations. Fine-mesh guards keep out leaves and maple seeds well and cut cleanings from several a year to an occasional rinse. Cheap snap-in screens often clog on top or blow off. In heavily wooded lots, common in older parts of Fort Wayne and along the rivers, good guards usually pay for themselves in avoided cleaning and overflow.
No guard is maintenance-free, and some can make ice buildup worse at the edge. We'll tell you whether guards make sense on your house before adding them to a quote.

Gutters & Downspouts questions
How much do gutters cost in Fort Wayne?
Most homes spend $1,500–$4,500 for seamless aluminum gutters and downspouts, depending on footage, size, guards and fascia repairs.
What's the difference between seamless and sectional gutters?
Seamless gutters are formed on site in one continuous length per run, so there are no joints along the run to leak. Sectional gutters are joined every 10 to 20 feet.
Do I need 6-inch gutters?
If your roof is large or steep, has valleys draining into one spot, or your gutters overflow in heavy rain, 6-inch gutters with larger downspouts are usually worth it.
Why are my gutters pulling away from the house?
Usually rotted fascia behind them, failed hangers, or the weight of ice and debris. The fascia has to be repaired before new gutters will hold.
Should I replace gutters when I get a new roof?
If they're old, bent or undersized, yes. It avoids a second setup and lets the new drip edge and gutters work together correctly.
Do gutters cause ice dams?
Not by themselves. Ice dams come from heat escaping into the attic. Better ventilation and insulation is usually the real fix.
